Flooded Reef/Sapho - This Reef in Estelas is the Berlengas richest spot for Sea-bream, where the shoals of fish that swim up and down the slope are many times impressive. The Reef has also a wreck, the Sapho that has much to explore. Structure, boilers and even a toilet brings a funny look to it. It frequently has tuff seas and currents.

Reef of Broeiro - For many the best dive site in Portugal

.This is one of the richest fish spots of the Natural Reserve of Berlengas. It is an advanced dive, frequently with currents. Sometimes can note be done due to the conditions of the sea, the experience of the divers and presence of fishermen in spot. When all conditions are good it is frequently amazing. The Reef comes from 40 meters of depth until 5 meters, in its higher point. The north wall drops to 25 meters, wherethere is a platform, then continuing until 40 meters. The spot is full of live. In the shallow areas there are lots of Sea-bream, feeding in the rock. There are little caves with Conger and Moray-eels, Spider crabs are frequent. In the north drop-off the schools of small fish in the water mass are always in impressive numbers: Bogues, small mackerel, and then, in summer, Trigger-fish, Sunfish, Amberjacks, Bonito Tuna. In deeper areas, in the NW slope it is usual to see the great shoals of Sea-bass. It’s also one of the places where we could see Groupers. NE of the reef we can find part of the Maroudio Inglessi wreck. The south wall is not so interesting, but we can see another part of the wreck. The diving has a usual visibility of 10/15 meters.

Grilhão/Grilhão Reef - One of new Haliotis spots, Grilhão is in Estelas and is one spot rich of fish-life. The dive starts usually in the reef that has usually shoals of fish around it. Then we swim north for the tour of the Grilhão rock. The north wall is very rich in marine life, it’s one of the areas of the Berlengas with more sponges. The fish is always there in fantastic amounts, shoals of Bogues and Mackerel in the current and big Sea-bream near the surface. Also, in summer there are Amberjacks and Trigger-fish. Great Sea-bass are also usual.

Canyons - This new spot in the north of the Medas has the characteristic that gives it the name. It has a reef that climbs from 27 to 12 meters of the surface, furrowed by canyons, some with 15 meters of height. The walls are interesting to explore and have some small caves with curious inhabitants. The fish varies here frequently, sometimes great shoals of Sea-bream come to explore the top of reef. Great Wrasses are the usual inhabitants. It is also a point for pelagic in the water mass.

MEDAS – North Meda/south Meda - the Medas are two isolated rocks between the Berlenga and the Estelas. They are two independent dives but of identical characteristics. Both consist of making the tour around the rock. They are both rich in Sea-Bream and fish in the water mass when there is current, which is common. In the north Meda Sunfish are usual in summertime when we can also find Trigger-fish.

The Mule - Another new Haliotis spot located in the Estelas, the Mule is constituted by two rocks where due to the shape of its walls the water gives a great kick when seas are tuff. The name comes from there. The dive starts usually south of the rocks and the tour is done counter clockwise. The north wall has a great anfi-theater with some cavelets, the depth goes down to 30 meters. Looking up for the top one has conscience of the amount of fish. Sea-bream in the white water, Bogues, and Mackerel in the water mass, Great Sea-bass appear from the deep and pelagics in summertime. The passage to the south is made trough a funnel, always with the fish around us. It is a dive that requires calm seas.
